Personalised Conversations and
Health Coaching Skills
2-Day (Part 1)

This training is suitable for everyone working in health and care systems, community or voluntary sector who are keen to develop skills to support people in taking greater control of their health and wellbeing. As stipulated in the Workforce Framework, it is a requirement for Health and Wellbeing Coaches to complete Part 1 and Part 2 of this training. We highly recommend that Social Prescribing Link Workers and Care Co-ordinators complete Part 1 as a minimum of their role induction and progress to Part 2 as part of their role development.
The aim of this course is to introduce you to the principles and concepts of personalised conversations and health coaching skills, so that you feel competent and confident to support positive behaviour change based on what matters to the people you support.

Understand the principles, roles, benefits, and impact of personalised care
Consider the wider/social determinants of health and their impact on individual well-being
Learn about core principles, strategies, skills, and tools used in health coaching, including behaviour change techniques
Explore how health coaching skills can identify a person’s values, motivations, and self-efficacy
Develop the skills to manage expectations and build trust and rapport.
Identify opportunities to utilise health coaching skills within your practice
Learn to adapt conversations to align with a person's capability, motivation, opportunity, and readiness for change, with the knowledge of behaviour change theory
Tailor your conversations and practice to identify and meet individual needs, ensuring equity, equality, and inclusion
Identify individual strengths and potential barriers to change, and work with resistance and challenge
Demonstrate your skills development throughout each module, with opportunities for skills practice and reflective practice

The 4-day facilitated training programme is delivered via Zoom or Teams and consists of 2 parts:

Both need to be completed to obtain the 4-day certification.

Personalised Care & Health Coaching Conversations Skills
16 hours - 4 half days over 4 weeks, facilitated learning via MS Teams/ ZOOM
This course is suitable for any health and care professionals seeking to use health coaching techniques in practice. As stipulated in the Workforce Framework, it is a requirement for PCN Health and Wellbeing Coaches to complete Part 1 and Part 2 of this training. We highly recommend that Social Prescribing Link Workers and Care Co-ordinators complete Part 1 as a minimum of their role induction and progress to Part 2 as part of their role development.
The aim of this course is to build on learning from Health Coaching Skills Part 1 and gain a deeper understanding of supporting individuals with behaviour change, using insights from the psychology of behaviour change and advanced health coaching techniques to improve practice and navigate challenges. Please note that you need to have completed Part 1 before you are able to access Part 2.

Explore coaching conversations with the insight from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Explore the biopsychosocial model, the impact of stress, and importance of phycological safety
Understand the psychology of coaching with insight into the theory of behaviour change, enhanced coaching skills, motivational Interviewing and solution focused coaching
Apply enhanced coaching skills to work with resistance and challenge

This course is suitable for anyone working in any health and care setting, community, voluntary sector or who is simply interested in how to work with individuals in a personalised way to improve health and wellbeing.
In this training, you will build confidence in facilitating and promoting personalised conversations that enable you to identify what matters to people and focus the support we offer on what is important to them.
Reflecting on what matters to us and what matters to the people we support can positively impact on our own health and wellbeing and help us to better understand and improve the experience of people using our services. This is an interactive package during which you will be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences, thoughts, and ideas.
